Key Alliance Group (KAG) today unveiled the site of their new state-of-the-art data center that will power their Progenet Cloud service. This is part of their move to take advantage of the new Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ)announced by the Malaysian government.
KAG acquired Progenet Sdn. Bhd, a boutique cloud service provider, and rebranded it as Progenet Innovations Sdn. Bhd. (PGI).
In conjunction with this acquisition, KAG began construction of a dedicated data center on the 4th floor of Menara Lien Hoe. This data center is expected to be completed in March 2018.
When completed, Progenet Cloud will be the first end-to-end cloud service in Malaysia. They will own the real estate, the data center, and the cloud service. Until then, Progenet Cloud is hosted at the AIMS and Equinix data centers.
The new data center will be a carrier-neutral data center, with 10,000 square feet per floor, supporting up to 160 racks. It will be powered by Vertiv’s SmartAisle – a row-based enclosure system that combines racks, power, cooling and infrastructure management. KAG’s other partners in creating the new data center include Kaspersky and BitGlass.
The future data center is designed for high-density web-scale infrastructure, allowing PGI to offer both public and private cloud services. This facility also comes with the latest Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution, allowing for more efficient management, better risk management, and increased efficiency.
Once the new facility is operational next year, Progenet Innovations will be able to offer higher levels of service, better disaster recovery options, and new cloud computing services.
